Biography

1960: David Allen Poulin, Born November 2, 1960, in Lynbrook, New York Parents: William and Betty Poulin

1961: Family moves to Lindenhurst, New York

1972: Receives "Art Award" at sixth grade graduation (Just the Beginning!)

1978: Graduates from Lindenhurst, High School. Starts Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas as an Art Major

1979:Receives Patent for design of playground equipment

1982:December, B.A. degree from Bethany College
cum laude Double Major: Studio Art and Art Education.
Builds first complete Art Foundry for Bethany College.

1983: Starts work for Solar World in Salina, Kansas designing and installing passive and active solar units for homes and business.

1984: Walton, New York. Opens art studio "Creative Designs" mostly doing sign painting. Substitute teaching and coaching high school sports.

1985: Olean, New York. Middle school Art Teacher

1986: Begins teaching Sculpture in the evenings at local community college.

1987: Alfred, New York. Begins full time graduate studies in Sculpture at Alfred University with a full scholarship and a teaching stipend.

1989: Receives Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture, Alfred University.
St. Bonaventure University, St. Bonaventure, NY Teach Sculpture.
Opens "Blue Stone Studios", sculpture studio in Portville, New York.

1990: "King Alfred", first large scale public bronze sculpture working in collaboration with artist William Underhill installed at Alfred University.

1991: Assistant Professor of Visual Arts, St. Bonaventure University. First travels to Mexico to study the Mayan

1991: Vermont Carving Studio, West Rutland, Vermont. Begin a yearly summer workshop teaching metal casting with good friend Glenn Campbell.

1993: August 7, 1993 marries Jari Whitcome

1995: Sculpture Commission, "Fountain of Memories", Walton, New York

1996: Rocky marriage, Dave and Jari separate. Begins to seriously explore alternative metal casting techniques.

1997: Leaves St. Bonaventure University to pursue artistic career full time.
Sculpture Commission "Veterans War Memorial", Jamestown, New York.
Establishes "Dave Poulin Studios", Jamestown, New York.
Germany: Builds Fine Art Foundry in Flensburg, Germany and teaches a one-week metal casting workshop. Also visits Berlin and Paris.

1998: Returns to Mexico exploring central and southern Mexico.
Sheryl Leonard Gallery and Sable V Gallery in Maryland and Texas begin full time representation of Dave's Sculpture.
Sculpture Commission "Volunteerism", Niagara Falls, New York
Sculpture Commission "Butterfly Garden" Fletcher Elementary School Jamestown, New York

1999: Brazil, Selected by Rotary International as part of a professional cultural exchange program. Gives lecture, in Portuguese, at International Conference in Montes Claros.
Germany: Lives and works creating sculpture for shows in Germany and Paris. Returns to Paris for exhibition at "la Galerie Art Present" and visits London.

2000: Purchases large two story brick building in Downtown Jamestown to develop new state-of-the-art foundry/sculpture studio. Also includes a gallery, museum, children's center, art school and café.
Paris:Carlin Gallery on Rue Seine.

2001: Tokyo, Japan: Lectures at the Goro Sugita School of Art.
Beijing, China: Travels with Miyuki Shimazu of the Art Capital Group.
Completes Korean War Memorial for Niagara University, Niagara Falls, NY.

2002: Completes main entrance, two figure skaters and three hockey players for Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena, Jamestown, NY.
Ten Japanese visiting artists are hosted by Dave Poulin Studios for one week in western New York.

2003: Continues to develop artist-in-residency programs in several communities, resulting in nine new life size bronze figures. Much of 2003 spent renovating The ArtsCenter facility.

2004: September 13: Opens The ArtsCenter at Dave Poulin Studios, offering classes in the arts for all ages and abilities. Most productive year to date! Sixteen life size bronze figurative sculptures commissioned this year all at various stages in my studio.

2005: Continues with numerous sculpture commissions, also develops arts programming and extensive partnerships for The ArtsCenter.

2006: The corporation Dave Poulin Inc. is established. It is started with three divisions; Dave Poulin Studios, The ArtsCenter, and cafeEuphoria. The John Galt Holding Company, LLC is also established as a property management and development company.

2007: 22 life size bronze figures installed and dedicated this year. Busiest most productive year of his life. Exhausted Dave closes the Arts Center having served 165 students per week with outstanding programming and a staff of 9 teaching artists. Dave downsizes from 12 employees to 2 part-time.

2008: "Unlimited Possibilitees" is started as a company for doing creative "Fundraising" for Arts programming. Keystone Elementary School in Knox, PA is first school having a very successful fundraising event.
